Research Lines

There are two PGP Research Lines, each one of them with two Structuring Research Projects, to which are linked the research projects coordinated by the Program's professors:

Public Governance and Development
This line of research interfaces the planning process and definitions for implementation with execution and monitoring from the principles of governance.
In this sense, the objective is to research issues related to public governance and development, also focusing on territoriality. Thus, it prioritizes topics related to the State, Government, Society and Public Administration, as well as other segments of society and organizations that are articulated, contributing to the local and/or regional strengthening.

Planning and Public Policy
This line of research interfaces planning and public policy by discussing public policy processes, focusing on their planning and definitions for implementation. This approach, and in the context of the Brazilian reality, reflects on how public policies are developed, especially those aimed at a territory, and their relationship with citizens' living conditions, the needs of the population and the conditions of local reality. for which they are being developed. Thus, we seek the basic understanding of Brazilian public policies and their possible articulations with sustainable development, in the medium and long term, which require not only the study of the political and social process of Brazil (historical-contemporary), but also a analysis of trends and internal and external forces that drive and limit the process of designing and implementing these policies. Therefore, this line of research, involving researchers with public experience, aims to develop methods, techniques and studies to improve the practice and theory of state intervention aimed at the sustainable development of the territory.
